DAY 1: SAN MIGUEL DE TUCUMAN
Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. City tour including a visit to Valla Nogues and Mount San Javier. Accommodations. Dinner

DAY 2: SAN MIGUEL DE TUCUMAN / QUILMES
Continental breakfast. Departure for a tour to the Quilmes ruins, passing by the Quebrada de Los Sosa (Los Sosa Ravine), viewing the Monument to Calchaqui Indians and El Mollar with its Menhires (monlitic stone blocks.) We will also visit Tafi del Valle, a wonderful summer resort by an artificial lake, and the Indian ruins of Quilmes. Accommodations at the Quilmes Inn. Dinner

DAY 3: QUILMES /MOLINOS /CACHI
Continental breakfast. Departure to Cafayate, though the Calchaqui Valleys, passing Colalao de Valle at Tolombon. Visit to Cafayate, located 5,577 feet above sea level. This town is on of those peaceful colonial style settlements that evoke the felling of past history. In such a wonderful climate, its vineyards produces a worldwide know wine. Visit to a winery. The panoramic view of the valleys continues while traveling by the while traveling by the Quebrada de la Conchachas (also know as Cafayete Gorge) with colorful stones formations carved by the wind: the ‘Amphitheatre’ the ‘Castle’, the ‘Priest’, and the ‘Devil’s Throat’. Afterwards, we will go on our way towards Cachi, down the same road (route 68) towards Cafayate, and then northward. In our way we will pass by small typical villages devoted to sweet pepper farming for the elaboration of paprika, such as Animana, el Barrial, San Carlos and Molinos. Once in Cachi, we will be able to appreciate an ancient town founded in the XVII century at the foot of the white snow-covered peak of Cachi, with a wonderful view of the surrounding valleys. DAY 4 CACHI /SALTA
Continental breakfast. Visit the archeological museum and the church. We will follow this route, across Los Cardones National Park, characteristic for its great abundance in giant cacti, upwards Cuesta del Obispo, called the Condor’s home, reaching 12,204 feet above sea level. At this point there is splendid and colorful view of the Calchaqui Valleys, a natural treasure located in on of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. Afternoon arrival in Salta. Accommodation. Dinner.

DAY 5 HUMAHUACA / SALTA
Departure for a drive along the historic Humahuaca Gorge, passing Leon, Volcan, Tumbaya, Purmamarca framed by the Seven Color Hill. Tilcara with its Archeological Museum and the old rebuil Indian fortress (know as Pucara de Tilcara), and Uquia Church, finally arriving at Humahuaca. Visit the handicraft fair. On the way back to Salta it will be interesting to stop at Jujuy for a visit of their nice city. Afternoon arrival in Salta. Accommodations. Dinner

DAY 6 SALTA
Day at leisure for optional tours. Accommodation. Dinner

DAY 7 SALTA
City tour visiting the major points of interest and transfer to the local airport

OPTIONAL TOURS:TRAIN TO THE CLOUDS
Tren a las Nubes (Train to the Clouds) to Viaducto La Polvorilla ( The Polvorilla Viaduct), 133 miles away, at 13,780 feet above sea level, admiring the changing colors of the sharp rocks. The highlight of this trip is the amazing crossing of the viaduct suspended on the abyss on fabulous pillars. (Saturday from May to October)

SAFARI MOVITRACK
Safari Movitrac following the famous track of the train of the clouds though the Del Tora Gorge to San Antonio de Los Cobres; arriving at Salinas Grandes (Grand Salt pits) in Jujuy after crossing the Puna. On the way back, the downhill Cuestas de Lipan, will allow a visit to the picturesque village of Purmamarca. Return to Salta.
