Mt Sam Lorenzo & Cueva de las Manos.
Dominating the Southern Andes region is Mt. San Lorenzo (3,706m), its highest peak. This is a scarcely visited area due to the long distances and the few to stay. For this reason, here you feel well off the beaten road and into the wilderness. Very few places around the globe remain as unspoiled as this one. Along the way to Mt. San Lorenzo we will have the chance to visit the impressive Hand Painted Caves of Rio Pinturas Canyon, with painting dating back more than 9,000 years.
DAY 1 COMODORO RIVADAVIA/ PERITO MORENO VILLAGE
Upon arrival to Comodoro Rivadavia airport during the morning, you will be met and driven 480 km across the Patagonian steppes, and towards the Andes Range, to the town of Perito Moreno. Lunch on road. Accommodations Dinner.
DAY 2 PERITO MORENO / LAKES PSADAS & PUEYRRDON
Morning visit to the River Pinturas Canyon where we will descent 70 meters on foot to visit the impressive Hand painted Caves. We will then get back on to the road southwards to them finally turn west towards the Andes Range until we reach lakes Posadas & Pueyrredon area. Lunch on road. Accommodations Dinner
DAY 3 LAKES POSADAS & PUEYRREDON
Trekking day following the River Oro course along a will marked path. We will then keep on walking surrounded by hanging glaciers and a superb wild scenery. Back to our starting point. Box Lunch. Accommodations. Dinner
DAY 4 LAKES POSADA & PUEYRREDON
Breakfast. Another dramatic and interesting trekking day along the Rio Furisoso valley. Box Lunch. Accommodations. Dinner
DAY 5 LAKES POSADAS & PUEYRREDON/ EL CHALTEN VILLAGE
Early morning departure and back on to Route 40 going southwards after our first 100 km to Bajo Caracoles, a mall supply settlement. From here we will drive 490 kms along the great Patagonia steppes up to the small village of El Cahlten. This is a hardly driven road and will allow us to admire the immensity, the loneliness and the beauty of Patagonia Box -lunch
