Safari to the land of Incas

This is one of the most attractive and less visited regions in Argentina, with its gorges and small towns built in beautiful colonial architecture. Its valleys included numerous archeological remains belonging to different cultures that lived in this area since remote times. On this trip you will be plunged into a magical ambience where the fresh air and he transparent atmosphere stress the presence of colorful hills and the irregular geological formation of gorges.

Breakfast. Early morning departure on an exciting safari. Leave Sal;ta along the fascinating ‘Road to the Clouds’ following the tracks of the famous ‘ Train to the clouds’. Travel though the spectacular Toro Canyon to San Antono de los Cobres on the Puna (flat part of the Andes) and them cross the Puna to the salt flats (Salinas Grandes) in the province of Jujuy. Descend thought the ‘Cuesta de Lipan’ to the picturesque Purmamarca, a colonial Indian village dominated by the Seven Color Hills. Continue to Tilcara, atupical village in the Humahuaca Gorge, one of the main communication routes between the Puna and the Plain. Accommodation in Tilcara.

Breakfast. Morning visit to the Pucara de Tiolcara, the extraordinary fortified pre-Columbian settlement and its Archaelogical Museum. Continue our safari though the Humahuaca Gorge traveling along roads used by the Incas and though small village, which still keep reminiscences of he pre-Hispanic cities to Humahuaca, founded in the XVI century. Walk along its beautiful narrow cobblestone streets with is sun dried clay brick houses and se its remarkable Cathedral, Town Hall, the Northern Carnival Museum and the craft fair. Continue our way to Iruya, set within a landscape full of magic at 2,730 meters above sea level. Accommodation in Iruya.

Breakfast. Morning walk around this lovely town. Continue our adventure back to Salta across imposing valleys and high plateaus where adobe houses and cultivated fields can be seen. Accommodation in Salta.

Breakfast. Depart from you hotel to visit the city of Salta, one of he most picturesque cities in the country, with it cobblestone streets and colonial style architecture. Visit its main highlights: San Francico church and Convent, the old Town Hall, San Bernardo Convent, the Italian Style Cathedral and its imposing tower. We then drive to wards the suburbs to visit. San Bernado Hill for an impressive panoramic view of the city and the Lrma River Valley. Our sightseeing will end at the Craft Market. Return to the hotel and transfer to Salta airport to board flight.
